Sailing on a Dream
36 x 36 inches
acrylic and mixed media on gallery wrap canvas
$ 3100
This whimsical painting is an abstracted landscape inspired by the kind of satellite imagery seen on the Google Earth. One day I was standing by the North Lighthouse on Block Island, looking across to the mainland. I saw a very heavily treed shoreline. As I stood there I tried as hard as I could, to imagine what that shoreline looked like in 1524. Fourteen miles to the west lay Montauk Point; 13 miles to the north lay the mainland. This painting reflects the beauty and desirability of the southern Connecticut coast with a nod to early settlers, explorers and pirates.
