This is a painting about one family's journey from immigration to U.S. citizenship and the new life America promised. My client had seen one of my Ginkgo leaf paintings hanging in a gallery and decided right then and there that it was the theme she was looking for. The Ginko leaf reminded her of of her Asian heritage. When I met with the family and discovered that they had come here with 8 children as Vietnamese Boat People I suggested we include references to their journey in the painting and so you will see the may of Southeast Asia and the boats on the left.
