This abstract painting was inspired by the color blue and a trip to the southwest. We were driving east on I-40 close to midnight. There must have been a cloud cover because sky was very dark; no moon and no stars. There were maybe 2 or 3 cars on the road near us and I was looking out the window at pure, uninterrupted blackness but then the car crested the hill and there it was; Albuequerque all lit up like an oasis in the desert with the Sandia Mountains behind it. I snapped a picture of these bright lights and the impact made its way onto a canvas.
